13th Project Steering Committee Meeting Takes Place with Full Participation

We are delighted to inform you that the project’s 13th Steering Committee Meeting took place on Tuesday, 15 October 2024. The Inception report for the second implementation period of the project (IP 05/2024 – 05/2027) and the 7th Quarterly Report were discussed between the stakeholders.

On October 15, 2024, the 13th Steering Meeting of the EU Food Safety project was convened among key stakeholders.

The Steering Committee served as a platform to discuss about the Inception Report for IP 05/2024-05/2027 and the 7th Quarterly Report and to inform on the upcoming activities and expected outcomes for the next three months, organized around the two primary components and the 3 cross-cutting tasks.

The EU FSP project Component I - Food Safety works on assessing capacity, assisting in implementation of food safety controls, and providing training on EU Food Safety standards. In Implementation period 05/2024 – 05/2027 the training content is foreseen to be focused on farm hygiene, measures for animal health, biosecurity issues, and strategies to reduce the risk of general and exotic animal diseases.

The project Component II - Diseases Crisis Preparedness works on disease crises preparedness, with activities for capacity development and sharing of knowledge and experience among stakeholders.

The Cross-cutting tasks of the EU FSP cover animal disease risk assessments and support in developing of crisis management plans.

Additionally, several discussion points were raised during the meeting including the residue monitoring program, pesticide and contamination monitoring plans, raw milk tracking in compliance with Halloumi/Hellim PDO standards and the state of play with the food laboratories.

Last but not least, as the new implementation period of the project covers non-animal origin products, the current status of the matter as well as future activities were discussed at the meeting.

The Steering Committee Meeting 13 concluded with closing remarks summarizing the key points discussed and setting the next Steering Committee meeting date – tentatively in January 2025.
