The TCc Food Safety Project, funded by the European Union within the scope of the Aid Programme for the Turkish Cypriot community, is building up on the increased knowledge and competence acquired in trainings and workshops. A high number of practical on-the-job exercises are organized to enable the participants to apply what they have learned.
After having gained theoretical knowledge about good hygiene practices and HACCP-related procedures applicable to their establishments, it is important to put the newly acquired competency into practice. To ensure an individual approach to the greatest possible extent, practical training sessions have been organized in the concerned commodities of all sizes.
Planning and implementation of controls are important steps and include various practical tasks to be fulfilled by veterinary experts. Following the theoretical approach delivered within the initial training and workshops, hands-on activities to assist the inspectors in applying their knowledge and competency have been conducted. The scope of these hands-on activities covered the verification of compliance with food and feed safety requirements when performing the controls systematically and special attention to the evaluation of the operator’s hazard identification, evaluation and management, and the implementation of HACCP-based procedures.
