Thursday, 11 August 2022: Meeting on Pilot PDO – Halloumi/Hellim Production Held
A well-attended stakeholders meeting on pilot PDO – Halloumi/Hellim production was held in Nicosia. Upon testing the pilot PDO milk channelling system, we are now at the stage when the pilot PDO – Halloumi/Hellim production shall start.
The purpose of the meeting was to ensure that all involved parties (pilot farms, pilot FBOs, SÜTEK, “animal husbandry department”, “veterinary department”) are aware of their roles and responsibilities in setting up the communication channel for the routine process of PDO compliant milk supply.
The meeting was very productive:
- Information about the progress and the problems identified during the test of the pilot PDO milk channelling system was exchanged.
- The current situation of the registration of PDO-eligible farms and establishments was presented and possible solutions for improvements were discussed.
- The communication channel was agreed and pilot PDO – Halloumi/Hellim production has started.
