Since its very beginning, the EU-funded Food Safety Project (EU FSP) has focused on understanding local practices and exploring ways to support everyday food safety activities. The Project’s team has taken part in multiple on-site trainings and visited numerous food establishments, helping everyone understand why food safety matters and how to align to EU standards and improve daily practices for safer food.
In November 2025, the main project beneficiaries (including TCc local communities) came together for a round table discussion on how closer collaboration could enhance public health and make daily work more consistent and efficient. Participants shared experiences, compared current practices, and explored practical ways to support each other when needed.
As part of the project’s technical support, EU FSP experts prepared a practical checklist and a new hygiene guideline. These tools are based on widely used hygiene principles and have been adapted to local conditions so they can be easily applied by anyone working with food — in restaurants, bakeries, hotels, markets, and other establishments.
Why this guideline matters:
Different practices are currently used in different places, which can result in varying approaches to similar tasks and confusion among food business operators. The new guideline aims to offer one clear and simple model that supports consistency and makes day-to-day work easier for everyone involved.
A shared approach can help by providing:
✔️ straightforward steps to follow
✔️ more consistent daily routines
✔️ fewer repeated tasks
✔️ reduced burden on businesses
✔️ stronger protection of community health
✔️ enhanced consumer’s trust that food on the market is safe

Working closely together is essential. it’s about working together SMARTER to achieve the same high standard everywhere in TCc. Being able to agree on a shared way of working can help teams support one another, combine efforts when needed, and make better use of available resources.
Ultimately, this work is about supporting the health and well-being for the public health. By exploring ways to collaborate under a shared model, we can help ensure that food remains safe, hygienic, and high in quality for everyone.
Together, we can build a safer future for all.
